Come Back Mom

When I became a mom, I quickly realized how overwhelming it could be to balance motherhood, career goals, and personal wellbeing. I also noticed that many moms like me struggled to keep track of everything—childcare, career growth, self-care, and daily responsibilities—while still craving a sense of community and guidance. That’s where the idea for The Comeback Mom App was born: an all-in-one platform designed to help moms rebuild, manage, and thrive. The vision was to create more than a productivity app—something that feels like a supportive companion, combining scheduling, career tools, and emotional support in one place.

/Challenge

Every mom wears many hats — caregiver, professional, partner, and individual. Yet, juggling these roles often feels like a constant balancing act, where one responsibility overshadows another. Many moms long for a way to stay on top of family needs while still pursuing their career dreams and making time for themselves. This sparked our challenge: how might we design a single platform that not only helps moms manage their daily responsibilities, but also gives them the space to reclaim their career goals and nurture their own well-being?s

/Solution

Moms struggle with time management, career re-entry, and maintaining balance between family, personal growth, and self-care. Current solutions are fragmented:

- Calendars help with scheduling but don’t account for emotional wellbeing.

- Job boards show opportunities but don’t consider the unique struggles of moms returning to the workforce.

- Mom communities exist, but they’re often scattered across social media and lack practical, daily support.

Research

Research

I conducted informal interviews and surveys with 5 moms, balancing work, childcare, and personal goals.

- Overwhelm: Moms often felt like they were 'always behind,' unable to track everything in one place. - Isolation: Living abroad meant fewer physical support systems (grandparents, family). - Career Pause Anxiety: Many struggled to re-enter the workforce after a career gap. - Desire for Self-Care: Moms wanted guilt-free time for themselves but didn’t know how to structure it.

“I have Google Calendar, WhatsApp groups, job alerts, and sticky notes everywhere… but none of them really help me feel in control.””

Amara's Journey map, shows the struggles moms have to face every day especially those that want to have a career while joggling Motherhood. So it will be a life saving idea, to create a design that will make their lives easier , an all in one one that will help the find their path, stay productive and feel seen.

Overwhelm with scattered tools

80% of moms said they felt constantly behind because they used multiple apps (calendars, reminders, WhatsApp groups, sticky notes) without a central hub.

Design

Ideation

Most existing apps for moms focus on just one area—like community (Peanut), family scheduling (Cozi), chores (Motivated Moms), wellness (Calm Mama), or career reentry (Mom Relaunch)—but they rarely integrate all aspects of a mom’s life. This fragmentation leaves moms juggling multiple tools without real balance. The opportunity for The Comeback Mom App is to become a unified hub that combines scheduling, career reentry support, self-care, and emotional wellbeing. By offering personalized, active guidance—such as tailored reminders, progress tracking, and career steps—the app can stand out as both a supportive community and a practical, everyday management tool for modern moms.

SKETCHES
Through careful iteration of each screen, we refined the design to keep only the most essential features. The final wireframes focus on simplifying daily routines for moms by seamlessly integrating scheduling, career support, and self-care tools, ensuring that every element directly supports balance, clarity, and ease of use.

My design decisions were guided by user pain points, ensuring that each solution directly addressed the challenges moms expressed during research.

Low Fidelity Prototype

The User flow for this prototype starting from home page users can check their mood for the day, read some encourage quote which will be alternated with some jokes and light humor to brighten their day. They can also easily navigate through the app and easily see connections or friends available if they are looking to start a conversation.

Redefining the Designs

MOCK UPS

The second usability study shows that users want to have their goal on the home page, for easy reminder of what they have planned to do and have a visual presentation of the progress.

I included considerations for additional screen sizes in my mockups based on my earlier wireframes. Because users surf the internet from a variety of devices, I felt it was important to optimize the browsing experience for a range of device sizes, such as mobile so users have the smoothest experience possible.
